Two Timeless Arts. One Exquisite Creation. Where needlepoint meets the elegance of French Cartonnage.
French Cartonnage is the Art of Crafting Boxes, and other cartonnage pieces, from greyboard sheets, with its origins in the 18th Century. Since 2003 I have been reinventing the artisanal savoir-faire of French Cartonnage in respect of the traditional techniques inherited from the master makers of the 18th Century.
Handcrafted cartonnage designs with a NDLPT Frame© enhance your canvas with refined, fabric-covered finishes. A timeless, professional presentation worthy of your artistry.
Whether you're finishing a cherished heirloom or your latest stitching project, this fusion of French Cartonnage and NDLPT framing offers a uniquely beautiful and professional presentation—one that’s worthy of your time and talent.

How to add your Canvas to the NDLPT Frame
Cut the fusible interfacing at least 1.0” | 2,5 cm larger than your finished blocked needlepoint creation. For example, the size of your canvas to put in the frame is 3.3x6.3” (3x6” visible canvas in frame). Lay the interlining with the coated side facing the reverse side of the fabric. Iron on dry for around 8 seconds. Press the iron down firmly over each section 5–6 times (iron setting: silk|wool). After fixing, lay the piece down flat to cool down for around 30 minutes to allow the bond to stabilize. Cut off the interfacing around the canvas and place it in the frame. Repeat these steps to as many needlepoint creations as you wish to insert into your frame. If you wish to only have one design with this box permanently, you can use a double-sided tape to secure your needlepoint creation inside the frame permanently. I started HOUSE OF CARTONNAGE in 2003, driven by a desire to create, though it took me a while to discover the right path. My journey began when I attended a box-making workshop, learning the art of French Cartonnage.
I’m the creator behind the NDLPTframe© for a needlepoint canvas, and love to create finishing items for your NDLPT creations.
